So I originally began blogging because it was one of my responsibilities as an intern at Pondstone Communications, n communications company based in Ottawa – all of which you can read about here. Having recently ended my stint there as an intern and moved on to new and exciting projects (details to follow), I realized I missed the WordPress Dashboard and having a place to spew the often non-sensical thoughts which meander through my mind.

So I resurrected this blog. (On a sidenote, the shoes which this blog were named for are no longer in use. I may have misplaced them on an ill-conceived midnight stroll.) I will attempt to update at semi-regular intervals, posting either my non-sensical rants, awesome links I’ve stumbled upon and of course, utilize this as a platform for shameless self-promotion . Except my excessive love for Helvetica, live/acoustic performances by Phoenix or the National, awesome third wave feminist banter and sheer reverence for the awe-inspiring creativity that is OK GO.

Indeed, they are purple. And white, I guess, if you count the trim.

So I’ve decided to blog. Mostly so the excessive amount of entirely unrealated thoughts that go through my head in a completely non-linear fashion have an outlet. And so maybe I will stop talking to myself and/or narrating my own life.

So for my first post, I guess I should do some of that aabout me jazz:

A.) My shoes are purple. I am not generally a fan of wearing shoes, prefering barefootedness, but I do believe the purple shoes are swell.

B.) I drink copious amounts of coffee. Organic, fair trade, preferably shade grown, preferably from small farmers, preferably Guatemalan, preferably sans milk/sugar.

C.) Am vegan. Enjoy cooking. Said cooking may occasionally appear here.

D.) David Tennant was Doctor Who. And it was awesome, because David Tennant is awesome. But then he regenerated (twice, sort of) but Matt Smith looks promising.

E.) Politics isn’t just for old, white dudes. Two of my favourite things: politics and feminist musings.

F.) I sometimes actually use full sentences, even paragraphs.

Mostly, I’m a university student, living, studying and blogging from Ottawa, my adopted hometown and spend far too much time online. So join me as I do what every other blogger does: start with good yet humble intentions. Post often for a couple weeks, give up and abandon the blog. Or, alternatively, get a publishing deal. Though the latter is far more appealing.
